Casting & crew

Get on a set.

Cabrillo students shoot all over Santa Cruz County, and they need crew and actors. Crew calls go out beyond our own students, to UC Santa Cruz, CSU Monterey Bay, Hartnell, Gavilan and Monterey Peninsula College. Casting is open to everyone, so if you fit what a production is looking for, put your name in.

These are volunteer roles, and most are open to complete beginners. Turn up ready to work and someone will show you the rest.

Calls open once the semester starts

Students post their own casting and crew calls from the Film Hub once their production has been approved to shoot, so this page fills up once projects get under way. Nothing is listed right now because nothing has been submitted yet.

How it works when calls are open

How roles appear Once a student production has been approved to start shooting, the team posts the roles they still need to fill.
Who can apply Crew calls go out beyond our own students, to UC Santa Cruz, CSU Monterey Bay, Hartnell, Gavilan and Monterey Peninsula College. Casting is open to everyone, and we encourage local actors to come forward, whether you are just starting out or have years of stage and screen behind you.
Volunteer only Every role on a student film is unpaid, the directors included. What you take home is the credit and a copy of the finished film to show people.
Scheduling The production contacts you directly. When you apply we ask for your availability, then work out together whether the shoot dates fit before anything is confirmed.

Shooting something and need people?

If you are working on a production in the area and want to invite our students to crew or audition, send us the details. An instructor reads every submission before anything is posted.
